My intern life

Ciao cyberworld!

Ok, I know I haven’t written in a while, but can you blame me? I’m in Italy for God’s sake!

Humble bragging aside, I really haven’t written because I can’t seem to find the time. I’m so incredibly exhausted. But happy (just to make sure everybody understands).

A week ago I started my internship at Luxos, a luxury lifestyle magazine. My mom had this hole bit where she said it would be like The Devil Wears Prada and I’d have to be ultra fashionable, but I’m actually pleasantly surprised with how nice everybody is (I mean they’re fashionable too but not to BWP standards).

Day 8

I work from 9 am to 6 pm everyday, so this internship is basically like a full time job – not that I’m complaining! I find it incredibly cool and such an awesome experience. So far I’ve been learning the ropes, writing some articles and doing some back-end publishing and photoshopping. All my coworkers are really nice, and I’m surprised to find that quite a lot of them are actually British. Their delightful accents brighten up my day. I’ve fallen into a routine in my work life. I wake up at 7:30 every day (it’s not as bad as I thought… it’s worse), and eat some breakfast. I try to be out the door by 8:30 and I take two trams to get to my office. I usually get there right after 9 am, and I walk in and start my day.

Day 10

People here eat lunch around 1pm, and I’ve noticed they mostly just eat a lot of salad – which might explain why everybody is soo skinny. After lunch, I stay at the office until 6 and then head to italian class with Profesor Muzzi until 8pm.

Profesor Muzzi is the nicest teacher ever. She teaches us italian so patiently and answers all our dumb questions about italian or Milan life in general. She’s our guide to the ins and outs of the italian ways. She also knows 9 languages. I can’t even believe that.

Point is, life is busy – but I’m enjoying it. Check back here tomorrow because I’ll post about the Milan Expo and the day after that about my soaked adventures through Venice.

Arrivederci e a domani!
